How Typing Speed is Calculated
AeroType uses standard scientific scoring conventions identical to government examinations:
- Gross WPM (Words Per Minute): Total typed characters divided by 5, then divided by elapsed time in minutes.
- Net WPM: Gross WPM minus the number of uncorrected errors per minute. This is your true speed score.
- Accuracy Percentage: The percentage of correct words against total words submitted.
Speed Competency Levels
Beginner (< 25 WPM)
Still learning key positions. Focus on reducing mistakes without looking down at the physical keys.
Average (25 - 40 WPM)
Most state examinations (like LDC) specify a minimum of 30 WPM. You are ready to sit for clerk exams.
Professional (40 - 55 WPM)
Excellent muscle memory. You can handle administrative, translation, and high-volume data-entry roles.
Elite (55+ WPM)
Top 5% of Hindi typists. Capable of real-time stenography and live transcriptions.
